Lovely Review!

Hey Had a wonderful 5* review of my first novel 'After The Night' on Amazon.com "God, I loved this book. It will definatly become one of my all time favorites.Finished it in one day because I couldn't put it down. I love stories about strong women, and this one had one of the best. Officer Jean MacFarlane took my breath away. By the time I was finished with the story, I was in love with her. Great read. Glad I got it." When you write a love story and someone falls in love with one of your characters then you must be doing something right! :-D

It is always nice to have a good review and this little one popped up on 'Good Reads' website for my novel After The Night set in a British prison in 1960.

"This book is so well written in the pulp fiction style of the 50's & 60's that I had to double-check its publishing date (2011). It is inspired by the 1956 British film "Yield to the Night" (called "Blonde Sinner" in the US). The story provides a good look at societal prejudices of the 1950's and 60's."

Very pleased that people are enjoying the novel. If you haven't bought it yet the link is: http://www.amazon.co.uk/After-The-Night-ebook/dp/B0042P5GO4/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1331233709&sr=8-1

If you have read After The Night and enjoyed it, I would be eternally grateful if you took 5 minutes to put me a review on Amazon UK or US (or both). It really does create customer confidence. :-D

Many thanks and best wishes to you all

My novel After The Night just had the most amazing review on Amazon UK that was so lovely it made me cry...

"5.0 out of 5 stars 'After The Night' by Rachel Dax, 14 Jan 2012
By hazeyfantasey (Devon UK) - See all my reviews
This review is from: After The Night (Kindle Edition)
I read 'After The Night' a profoundly moving first novel by Rachel Dax cover to cover. I was completely immersed in the lives of these women. I actually cried at one point, (not wanting to give too much away). I loved all the characters each with their own story; the fascination for me was I felt I had known each and every one of them. The pace of this story is excellent and there really is so much to love.
I don't want to make it sound sappy, because this book smacks you hard where it hurts the most. Really if you can't think straight... this is the book for you, with a reference to Radcliffe Hall, the characters include an adorable old Suffragette Campaigner that broke my heart, a mother from hell, the complexities of coming to terms with who you are and Family expectations. This book takes us on a journey with Leah which most of us know only too well.
But for me it was Jean with her unique people management style and sex appeal that simply leaps from the page. I adored that unique quality of being too sexy for their shirt and not knowing it... Jean is so appealing. I wanted to grab her by the hand and take her home. I loved this book and can't wait for more from Rachel Dax. After The Night"

Just sorting out a blog feed for my author page on amazon.com. If you see this then it means I succeeded!!
Greetings from DaxiLand!

Since I last posted on here, I have been working very hard on my feature film Banned Girls and continue to trust that it will be on the silver screen soon, in spite of the difficult economic climate.

I have now set up my own production company DaxiTales Ltd. with two fantastic producers: Rebecca Wright and Craig Fisher. Take a look at our slate of projects at http://www.daxitales.com

Also my book After The Night is doing very well on Kindle and has received 8 x 5* reviews which is very exciting. I'm so glad that people are enjoying this novel. When a writer writes a love story, it is always hard to know whether it has hit the mark, but from the feedback so far, it looks like it has. Thank you very much to those of you have bought it. For those of you who want to read it, go to http://www.amazon.co.uk/After-The-Night

Many good wishes to you all

Change at last!

A while back, I had a fantasy that Buto would become president of Pakistan again and that Hilary Clinton would become President of the USA and together they would sort out the world in a way that only two strong and sensible women could... Then, sadly, Buto was assassinated and the Democrats decided they didn't want Hilary. I was gutted - my hopes for world peace and a new order were dashed.

And then, something amazing happened... Yesterday, the USA voted for a Black Democrat to be their president - an event I did not think I would ever witness in my lifetime...

Is this the beginning of the new dawn? The Golden Age? The Age of Aquarius? Please let it be so and let world peace & sanity prevail!

love & positive energy to you all

Only the good die young...

I was deeply saddened today to learn of the death of Tony Whitehead - Film Studies Lecturer at University of Glamorgan and Programmer for Chapter Arts Cinema.

Tony was one of the few genuinely good people I have ever met. His truly gentle spirit touched the lives of all who were taught by him. I am lucky to have known this special human being and only wish that it could have been for longer.

46 is too young to die - especially when the person brings so much genuine goodness and positivity into the world.

Daxi-Heart

Hello Beautiful Friends
It's been almost a year again since I last posted anything on this little blog- and what a year - probably the most challenging I've ever had...

However, I am still alive and testament to the truth of the phrase "That which doesn't kill me can only make me stronger!"

After the long hard slog to finish my drama and media degree I was well-rewarded by the Universe, in that my film HEART was shown at Chapter Arts Cinema. I am also pleased to tell you that I have been accepted into film school to do an MA - so there will be many more lesbian and gay dramas coming your way over the next few years.

For those of you who haven't seen HEART yet, watch this space, as I am having a website built at the moment where you will be able to view it at your leisure along with CRUSH from last year.

Other Dax news - I have now finished my full-length play about Pope Joan titled POPE JOHN VIII and am hoping to stage it in September/October - will post dates as soon as they are confirmed.

Much love to you all and do keep in touch.

As of today I am also on FACEBOOK so look me up there too
